Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
